I'm always excited to play, but it's really something special when I am able to collaborate with people who are working to broaden the perception of music! At this point in my career, it's musical honesty or nothing, and being authentic often means stretching previously established boundaries (internally and externally imposed)! I greatly appreciate presenting my music without the confines of genre or defined presentation and it's not every day that you meet someone willing to say, "Sure! I believe in you and know that whatever you do will be great, so... just do your thing!"
One of those people is the lovely Annette Spitzlay, the woman who organizes the Villa Mittelhof concert series, among a plethora of other concerts in Berlin. I was able to present the full breadth of my music this past Friday, from folkie acoustic ballads to dreamy electronic-classical songs. And you know what, I LOVED IT! So did the audience!
I loved being barefoot on stage singing French Melodie.
I loved laughing with the audience and dancing around on stage with a backdrop of framed children's drawings.
I loved having no barriers.
I loved the freedom.
Thank you, Annette, for such a lovely evening.
Thank you, audience, for sharing that evening with me.
Here's to many more!
The Author... it's me, Nicole!
