WHAT IS IOKOKANOA?
Across the vast seas of classical music, through the lush forests of folk and pop, and up the enduring mountain of downtempo ambient electronica, you will find IOKOKANOA. My electronic music is characterized by its rich, vibrant vocal harmonies, orchestral instrumental-synth arrangements, deep bass-lines, and beautiful words.
Throughout my life, I've been deeply influenced by those bridging the acoustic and electric music worlds - from Enigma to Sting, Enya, Sade, and Loreena McKennitt, in addition to countless contemporary artists. I love new-age music, neo-soul, jazz and have found myself immersed in and inspired by the spectacular worlds created by the brave artists who make their own sounds.
So, what is IOKOKANOA?
IOKOKANOA is the frequency expression of my state of being as an electronic music artist, just as LOVE is the frequency expression of the state of being, ROSE is the frequency expression for the flower, and WATER is the frequency expression for the life-giving element.
How'd I come up with that word? Well: I was sitting in a moving subway car that was pulling into a station when source whispered the word into my ear, and I understood immediately that it was the "name" for my own unique frequency in relation to my creation of this type of music. I accepted it immediately and began creating the music immediately.
